Your questions answered

We understand you may have questions before booking your stay. Below are answers to the things guests ask us most. If there is anything else you would like to know, please get in touch.

Part 1

Staying at Porth Eryri

How do we check in, and can we arrive late?+

About a week before arrival you will receive an email with your check-in details and key-safe code. Each cabin has a key safe by the door, so check-in is contactless and late arrivals are absolutely fine.

Check-in is from 15:00 to 23:00. If you expect to arrive after 23:00, please let us know.

What cooking facilities are there?+

Each cabin has a kitchenette with a dual hob, microwave and a fridge/freezer. Outside there is a firepit and barbecue area.

Tryfan and Moel Siabod have a pizza oven beneath the firepit, while Y Foel Las and Garn Prys have a separate pizza oven. Guests have cooked everything from pizzas to lasagnes and roasts in them.

What is provided in the cabins?+

Bed linen and one bath towel and one hand towel per guest are included, along with kitchen essentials such as plates, cups, glasses, mugs and a cafetiere.

You will also find a small cleaning starter pack (sponge, cloth, tea towel, kitchen roll, washing-up liquid and hand soap) and toilet roll to get you started.

The cabins are self-catering, so please bring your own toiletries such as shampoo and shower gel.

Do all cabins have a hot tub?+

Yes, every cabin has its own private wood-fired hot tub included in your stay.

We do not currently offer a pre-lit service, but we are very happy to help with your fires while you are here — just give us a call or text and we will pop over.

Is firewood provided, and what should we bring?+

Each cabin gets a starter supply of firewood on arrival, including firelighters and a lighter, a bag of kindling, a bag of fire bricks and two packs of logs.

If you plan to use the firepit or hot tub a lot you may wish to bring more wood or buy it locally. Many guests also pack walking boots, swimwear and an extra towel for the hot tub.

Are campfires allowed?+

Open campfires are not permitted around the site or in the surrounding woodland. However, each cabin has its own firepit and barbecue for you to enjoy — perfect for toasting a few marshmallows.

Is the accommodation warm in winter?+

Yes. The cabins are very cosy even in the coldest months. Each has a log burner that heats the space effectively, plus an electric towel rail in the bathroom and plenty of throws and blankets to snuggle under.

Is there Wi-Fi, mobile signal and TV?+

Yes. There is Wi-Fi in each cabin and mobile signal across the site. Each cabin also has a smart TV, so you can log in with your own Netflix, Disney+, iPlayer or other streaming accounts.

Is the site quiet at night, and what is the lighting like?+

The site is very peaceful at night. There are fairy lights around the decking and a porch light for each cabin.

Outdoor lighting is kept deliberately minimal, as we are in a dark sky area, so you can enjoy wonderfully clear views of the stars.

Is parking available, and are there EV charging points?+

Yes, you can park directly behind your cabin. We have two EV chargers on site, operated through the Monta app, and there are also several fast charging points nearby including in Betws-y-Coed.

Is the site suitable for guests with limited mobility?+

Unfortunately the cabins are not suitable for wheelchair access. There is a step up into each cabin, and the smaller A-frame cabins have spiral staircases leading to the beds.

Are there shops, restaurants and things to do nearby?+

Yes. Betws-y-Coed is a 5-mile drive and has convenience stores, while the town of Llanrwst (9 miles) has a wider choice of shops.

There is plenty to see and do nearby, from mountains and lakes to beaches and adventure parks. After booking you will also receive a welcome guide full of recommendations.

Do you offer decorations for special occasions?+

We do not currently offer decorations or added extras, but if you have a special request please get in touch.

There is a florist in the nearby village, and we are happy to share their details if you would like flowers waiting in your cabin.

Part 2

Booking and managing your stay

What are the check-in days and minimum stay?+

Check-in days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Midweek stays have a two-night minimum and weekend stays a three-night minimum.

During school holidays and other peak periods the minimum is usually three nights. We are unable to offer one-night stays. If you have specific requirements, please ask and we will help where we can.

Which cabin should I choose?+

Our A-frame cabins, Garn Prys and Y Foel Las, are designed for two adults and are perfect for couples seeking a peaceful or romantic getaway.

Our larger cabins, Tryfan and Moel Siabod, sleep up to five and are best suited to four adults and one child, as the bunk above the double bed is more suitable for a child.

Do you accept group bookings or solo travellers?+

Yes to both. Group bookings are welcome, and solo travellers are too, as bookings are charged per cabin rather than per person.

Each cabin is sized for a set number of guests, and there is no large communal space, so group stays work best when everyone is happy to enjoy their own cabin.

Are dogs allowed?+

Unfortunately dogs are not permitted, as there are farm animals in the surrounding area.

How do payments, changes and cancellations work?+

A 30% deposit secures your booking, with the balance due four weeks before your stay.

You can change your booking date up to one month before arrival. For cancellations and full details, please see our terms and conditions.

Do you offer gift vouchers?+

Yes. Gift vouchers are available to buy online and are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
